Issue Position: Infrastructure

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2014

Infrastructure is the backbone of the Commonwealth. Millions of people use Pennsylvania's roads, bridges, rails, and rivers every day for transportation. However, over the years, the problems with our infrastructure have been ignored, leading to an enormous backlog of maintanance.

The size of the problem is staggering: 852 "high hazard" dams, 57% of roads are rated "poor", $11 billion needed over 20 years for urgent bridge repairs, and the list goes on. In short, at least $3.5 billion per year in additional funding is needed to bring our infrastructure up to par. Governor Corbett's transportation plan does not solve the issue and does not fully close the funding gap.

As your representative, I will fight to fully fund road repairs. By fixing PA roads, your commute will be smoother and jobs will be created.
